I live in a small apartment and I have a small wall mounted air Conditioner, I turn it on, it seems to get cold and blow cold air for a while, but then it just shuts off and doesn’t come on for a long time, but it isn’t very cold in the room.. How can I make it stay on constantly? The Brand name is General Electric, I looked, but I can’t find the Model number.. I want it to stay on Constantly.. Can I tweak the Thermostat? or something like that? maybe move it away from the apparatus? I jut don’t know…
About a week ago my airconditioner in my 2002 GMC envoy started making a humming/vibrating sound. It would get louder if I turned up the fan speed. Yesterday the blower stopped all together. If I keep the AC on I can feel cold air coming into the car, but there is no blower on.
I have a Ford Explorer. My battery is 3 years old and I put a new altenator in last year. Today after picking up dinner I was driving and came to a stop sign, my battery gage began to decline to the L (low) end. My truck did not stall. While I am driving the gage is at its regular spot. However when I stop, not putting it into park, and my Air conditioner is running the battery goes down to very low. It never used to do this. Could it be that my altenator is going? Is my gage not working properly. I know that the AC takes up more power, but it has never done this in the 5 yrs of owning it. I am suppose to drive with my vehicle on vacation, but now need to figure out what is the matter with it. A friend has a valometer and is going to hook it up and see what the alternator and battery is putting out. Please HELP!!!
The transformer went out on my central air conditioner, so my brother-in-law replaced it yesterday. It worked like a charm until sometime today ( I was at work when it stopped working). What would make this happen? Thank you sooo much for any and all help!
I have noticed something interesting that you may help me figure:
At summer the ventilators in my computer become full of dust. That’s why the propeller start to make disturbing noises. So, than I must clean them in order to stop it.
BUT – When I open the air conditioner at the room and it is starting to feel cold, the noises stoped at once. Why and how? I think the propeller do not stop from working and turn around all the time on the same pace, but it’s like they feel it is not as hot as it was before…
This is an interesting question, so I hope you enjoy thinking about it. How it really works?
My car shakes when the air conditioner is on and I am stopped at lights sometimes it even stalls…. It seems to be getting worse. I put it on neutral and it stops shaking. What can cause that?
you may need the technician to come check that the gas has not all escaped – this does happen to my aircon sometimes, just a day or two after servicing
It’s a new office at a new job… the noise is deafening and even interferes with conversation at times. It’s a big air conditioner and sticks out pretty far. If I can come up with a reasonable solution maintenance is likely to help. Any ideas?
We just moved from a large more modern apartment in Chicago’s suburbs to a smaller, and much older apartment in the city. The apartment we just left (as well as my parent’s home) had about four or five switches in the breaker box, this apartment has one literally one switch, and I blow it about three times a day. I know it’s my airconditioners blowing the fuses, I have two of them, but we’re on the 4th floor and it’s insanely hot…I also have two computers since I do freelance webdesign from home, and a 42 inch flatscreen that has a three prong adapter.
I’m pretty sure my only option is to not run the AC. Outside of not running the AC or updating the electric, is there any options?

I recently moved into an older building that has poor electrical wiring. My friend gave me an air conditioner with 10,000 BTU’s with a heaving duty electrical cord. However, on for five hours or more the fuse blows. Can anyone tell me what the chances are for it to do the same if I buy a new one with lower BTU’s?
