Is It True That A 220v Air Conditioner Uses Less Electricity Than 100v?

February 10th, 2010 OrlyZiya 8 comments

Asking about those airconditioners you buy at sears or homedepot….not central air cond units. Not sure if i am asking this question in the correct category but i need answers! need to buy me an air cond unit for my 12′ X 10′ home office and was suggested by our electrician to purchase a 220 and not a unit you can plug in a 110 outlet? do this make any sense? 220 AC’s are far more expensive! All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We installed a new Trane 16 ser heat pump and a new trane furnace recently. The humidity within the house is high and the unit does not coool as well as our 25 year old air conditioner. I wonder if anyone has had this problem. I am very livid about the performance of this expensive unit.

Which Uses Less Gas In A Car: Air Conditioner Or Open Windows?

December 10th, 2009 OrlyZiya 9 comments

I always avoided wasting gas with my air conditioner; then I heard from a few people that the velocity/friction from open windows causes the car to use more gasoline than does the air conditioner. My mechanic agrees. What do you know? I’m having trouble believing this.

I Am Trying To Find A 6000 Btu Airconditioner That Is Less Than 10 Inches In Height. Any Suggestions?

Lisa, buy air conditioner that is 11 1/2″ in height and install it under the window by cutting hole in wall. It will be more efficient because you can get better seal. I did this with 18000 BTU unit in kitchen with great results.
