Cool, arent they?
We have a repair plan through our local gas company and we have been having problems with our air conditioner. The AC is only 5 years old. We knew that the furnace needed to be replaced since it was original but the previous owners had replaced the AC unit in 2003. The gas company came out today and said that our furance and AC are contaminated? They said that all the lines need to be removed and replaced due to contamination and they red tagged both units. What is contaminated?
I would like to know the step by step electrical operation of a Gas forced central air conditioner and heater? I like to know what happens when the thermostat calls for heat and what happens when it calls for cooling? Thanks

I want to keep my pipes from freezing but I dont want to pay my entire paycheck into heating bills.
Right now I have it on 55 and Im still freezing.
What is a good temperature.. I want to be cool but not COLD and warm but not HOT. I am always hot anyways in the summer I keep my airconditioner on 60 degrees if that gives you an idea.
Our airconditioner has been leaking and leaving huge puddles of water on the floor from a hose attached to the back of it. The hose leads to a plastic drain pipe in the wall but its too high up and i THINK the water that is collected in this hose backs up and spills al over the floor. We just bought a BRAND NEW water heater and i dont want it rusting out but it will if i dont fix the air conditioner or set the water heater on bricks. Anyone know why its leaking and a inexpensive way to fix this? The hose is not clogged up either. I was wondering if a replacement air conditioning/heater (its combined) will cost us around 6,000 or more? Or will it be easier to fix whatevers wrong? ANY suggestions on what to look for in the back of of it or inside of it that can possibly be the cause to the air conditioning leaking and flooding the little room out. The heater works great. The air works too it just leaks when we run it.

The furnace is only 80% efficient and the air conditioner is rated at a 13 seer. I’m pretty sure I already know the answer to this question, but want to double check just to make sure. From what I’ve found the furnace has to be 95% and the air conditioner has to have a seer rating of 15. My other question though is would the duct work qualify for the insulation credit? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I bought a new thermostat recently and hooked it up. I know the wiring is correct because I checked the wires all the way back to the furnace. The furnace is working, but the air conditioner will not turn on even though the wiring should be correct. I checked the filter, and that is clean. The only other option suggested to me was that maybe the thermostat wasn’t compatible with my furnace/air conditioner. How do I know I’m getting the correct thermostat? I checked the manuals, and they don’t say anything about a specific thermostat needed. The new thermostat I have didn’t have any specifications that I noticed (as in: Only use with certain voltage of furnace/certain brand, ect.) How can I tell?
I live in southern California. I am buying a central heating and cooling system for my house which is a single family two-story house built in the 70s with no air conditioner and heating provided by a gas furnace. Should I buy 1) an air conditioner and a gas furnace OR 2) a heat pump and eliminate the need of a furnace? Thank you for your help.
Our house is 640 sq ft so it is very small. We are considering going with a Kenmore furnance and air conditioner. If anyone could give me a rough estimate I would appreciate it. Thanks!
