Adding a small can of refrigerant R22 into a stationary A/C system. The valve should be attached to the can first, screwed all the way in, then cracked a bit to clear the hose of air. connect to low-side port. DO NOT attach to high side. If you do, the can might burst. Charge upright, so that the liquid doesn’t go in to slug the compressor. If liquid R22 is fed into the compressor and the piston tries to compress liquid, you might wreck it. It will take five minutes or more a can and the can will start to get cold as the refrigerant evaporates out of the can and into the system. Feel free to use a hot water bath. Use a heat blanket, or a bath of hot water to help the charging process. To replace the can, re-tighten then valve, unscrew the valve assembly from the can, then remove the bracket. (DO NOT loosen the valve, or you’ll vent the charge from system into the air Attach bracket to can, tighten down the valve assembly into the can and loosen valve to continue charging. The can is empty when it is nearly as warm as the heating bath.
yet more of the series on refrigeration! This is my “Master piece” and is quite possibly the most ambitious and challenging project iv ever undertaken. so wish me luck
It’s obviously cheaper to add freon to your cars air conditioner than having it "flushed" and replacing it with all new stuff. A can of typical freon is at your local auto store. I’m wondering why someone whould choose to have the whole car flushed out over just adding freon. Thanks.
I’m living in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China. I live on the 9th floor of our 34 floor apartment building, and just had to have our external air conditioning serviced. I was alarmed and amazed as our air conditioning technician tied a rope around himself, and then went out the window to the external air conditioning unit to give it a dose of freon (as I held the rope!). My gf asked, what do they do in the USA?
I have a 2000 benneville the compressor is new, fan motor is new, has freon, I have taken it to all kinds of air conditioner services. It will get cold for about 2 weeks then all you get is hot air.
Thank you all for your help it was a short in the electrical connection. It is very cold now, Have a Blessed Day!
I have a chevy venture 2000. Recently, the air conditioner blows hot air even when the knob is turned on cold section and the ac light is on. Some one told me to change the freon but I don’t know where the freon container is located and how to replace it. Is there any one who has any suggestions?
Thanks.
www.mabrumarine.com This video shows an explanation of how an Webasto Air Conditioning Chilled Water Split System works. This system is recommended for a boat of a range of 50 feet. This system has 2 compressors 12000 BTU each, a digital control, a circulation water pump, a raw water pump, a split system, does not uses freon lines, do not need to be refrigeration certified to install. We have an air conditioner and the air conditioner has not been used in six yrs because we moved. We came back and the freon had evaportated out and we had some more put in September and again in April The fan blows and air comes out the vents. There are ant piles near it. Could the ants have gotten into it and stopped it for working? Also the pipe outside freezes up and so does the one inside. What could the problem be?
