When I am going to be gone for 8-10 hours, is it best to turn the air conditioner completely off, turn it up to around 85 degrees, or just leave on the normal temperature?
I live in Florida… so the average outside temp during the summer is probably around 95 degrees.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I mean, if I use 1 HP (horse power) air conditioner, say for 8 hours per day, howmany KWh will be read at the end of a month? Can it be calculate?
In an effort to cut energy costs and still have some air conditioning I am trying to find out which of these scenarios uses the least amount of energy. Leaving the setting at 77 degrees continuously or only turning on the air conditioner when the indoor temperature reaches 85 degrees or higher?

how much energy is actually saved by raising the temperature on your air conditioner by 1 degree?
No…Todays computer run on very little electricity.
Absorption coolers need heat. Could I build a car airconditioner by absorption (of ammonia ?) using the waste heat of the exhaust pipe. This woul be a great saving of energy.
