Just to clarify – am intending to place units under a tent but the sides are open. Additionally will I cause damage to the units – placing undue stress on the mechanism?

I have room air conditioners and and they are in the wall, they are wall units. They are very nice ac and they are dual function, but unfortunately, they give a very loud voice annoying. so we are looking to replace the ac I wanna know if it is possible to install on of those window ac units n place of wall units. so if i buy an ac from a store which is supposed to be for window, cal i put in in my wall? also,how many btus ac would i need for a room that is around 18×17 give or take a couple. pls inform soon. thanks
the odor is sometimes also emitted by old freezer or refrigerators.
We have a small airconditioner, its the kind that is in apartments in the wall. I was wondering, is it good to use it even if the inside is cool and the outside is even colder? Also are air conditioner is making wierd sounds now, out side it sounds like popcorn is poping. Is that rare but normal or os that bad? If it is bad, is it from it being used in the cold? It is a modern airconditioner.
I know it pulls air in from indoors, but does it also bring in air from outside?

we are building a new house , its time to buy new airconditioners , ive looked at the prices and the difference are not that significant, however, if we were to consider cooling power, ease of maintenance, reliability, noise, power consumtion and other factors, which would you recommend ?
