Afraid not the hot air has to go somewhere. You’d effectively be wasting your electric. It would act as a dehumidifier that’s about it.
They do have air conditioners where the unit sits inside the house, but they have a tube to hook up to your window for the condenser. http://www.amazon.com/SPT-SF-608R-Portable-Evaporative-Cooler/dp/B000OKHY2S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1245952390&sr=8-1

No, the AC unit needs to exhaust the hot air outside the house.
An air conditioner basically removes the heat from the incoming air, venting cool air from the vents and hot air from the exhaust. This hot air is the heat that was removed and, if not vented outside, it will just recombine with the cold air and you will have accomplished nothing.

no! it will heat the house if it isnt vented. It makes on side hot and one side cold. Some ACs are used in the south for heating and cooling.
