What’s The Best Brand Of Residential Air Conditioners?

If you’re talking about window air conditioners – there’s not much choice any more between brands. They’re all made in China and are pretty much a “mature product”, meaning there’s nobody out in front any more. Repair costs are so high for things like this now that they have also become throw-away items too.
My advice is to shop for features and price and forget brands. Most brands are now just labels or cosmetic differences anyway and all come out of the same factory – in China.

Pick a top brand name they will make sure parts are available before any warranties expire.
The installing dealer you pick is just as important if not more than the equipment.
Furnaces don’t work in all conditions, the dealer needs to pick the right application to ensure long life of the equipment.

I’ve found they are all pretty reliable. More important is to make sure you get the correct size air conditioner for the area you are trying to cool. The salespeople can help you get the right size.

Samsung has a pretty decent airconditioner that I purchased from home depot with a remote. As they go out in my building I replace them with the Samsung. So far no complaints from my tenants.

I would say Fedders. These usually go into the sleeve. Window units- anything that has high BTU’s would work. They;re all good so it would be good to shop around,
