My Airconditioner Isnt Working Right , Should I Buy A New One Or Get It Repaired ?

the small airconditioner in my bedroom is not working right . i live upstairs of a townhouse (2 story ) and it is a wall unit meaning the back end obviously is outside through the wall .
anyway , this is what is going on with it . . I am not sure how old it is but it is a beige unit , not white so that dates it . it basically just buzzes and hardly any air is coming out . when i turn the power off ( a button) it doesnt turn off , the digital part does and all the lights go off but it is buzzing so i have to actually unplug it . after a half hour or so I plug it in and it is buzzing but not on . i turn it on and it runs like normal for a few hours but then it gives out again. then i have to go through it again with the unpluging.
I am wondering is it better to have someone repair it or should i replace it ? and if I do have to replace it , where can I go where someone will install it for me in my upstairs unit . thanks for taking the time to read all this .

You should replace it. A new one that has an Energy Star will save enough energy in a couple of years to pay for itself and, since it’s more efficient, will cause a lot less pollution over its life.
Most heating and A/C companies can handle the installation, if you can’t just put the new one in the same opening.

If it is a window unit I guess its quite old. Get a air-conditioner technician to assess it. If the cost of repair is more than half the original price, it is better to get a new one. The problem is most likely with the compressor which is expensive to repair or replace. I ‘d install a new split unit. Its not that expensive and it is quieter.

You should get it repaired! Unless you’ve left in this condition for awhile, then you should just get a new one.
