My Airconditioner Inside My Townhouse Has Snow On The Metal Grill And Its Not Blowing Hard. How Do I Fix?

Im in South Florida and I live in a 1 bedroom townhouse. The unit is in a closet and it has what looks and feels like snow on the oustide of the metal grill area. I can not afford a technician to come here and was hoping someone knew what to do or try. Thank you.

Several things can freeze up the A/C. Check the filter, make sure it is clean and in place to filter all the air. If the filter has fallen out or is gone, the evap. coil is plugged with dirt. That will also cause it to freeze up. Another cause is low on refrigerant. Have someone check the pressures. The main blower may be also be running slow. Check thee run capacitor. If it is bad, the fan will only run at about 3/4 speed. Also a bad blower that gets hot and shuts off will freeze it up. Go to th t-stat and turn the A/C off and turn the fan on. Wait several hours until the coil is completely thawed. Also listen for the fan during this time. It should run continuously and never shut off. If it does, you have a bad motor. After it is thawed and filters are clean and evap coil is clean, call the HVAC tech to recharge the unit. Good luck!

Your A/C is low on freon. Turn it off and call a service man to repair the leak and refill the freon. If you run it too long with low freon you can burn up your A/C compressor due to low oil.
    Good Luck!!!

One of two things..it’s either stopped up(dirty) or low on freon.

the A/C unit has frozen up from condensation…you have the thermostat set too cold…let it thaw out and it should work fine.
