How Do L Check My Air Conditioners Freon Level?

Recently my air conditioner has stopped blowing cold air and won’t cool anywhere near the set temperature. I am pretty sure it is low on freon because I used to be able to hear liquids pumping through it when it worked, but not anymore now that it doesn’t work properly.

Central type units have service valves on the outside unit for checking pressures.
Window units are sealed systems unless someone has worked on it in the past and had to access the refrigerant circuit.
Not sure what type a/c you have.
The compressor portion of any air conditioner has to be running in order for the refrigerant to flow through the system not just fan motors running.
You have to be certified in order to legally access any refrigerant circuit.
There is more to it than just looking at a gage. The operating pressures and temperature tell the experienced tech if it’s properly charged.
Leaks in the refrigerant circuit can develop but must be found and repaired or the added refrigerant will soon leak out.
If you have a central type unit the outdoor unit must be running. If not check breakers or fuses, the outdoor unit is powered separately from the indoor unit.
The compressor may have stopped running possibly from something as simple as a burnt wiring connection.
Have a tech check it out.
