Can I Use A 230 Voltage Air Conditioner In A 220 Voltage Outlet?

I need to replace an old air conditioner unit- to cool off 3 large rooms on first floor of my house and the outlet is a220 line. Most new air conditioners say 230. Can i do this?

No you need to upgrade. If you do you might get away with it for a while, but you will have to much load on that outlet and you will either blow a fuse, a breaker or start a fire. I wouldn’t recommend that.

Yes. no problem regular house outlets with one “hot” leadare referred to as 110, 115 and 120 volt depending on who you are talking to. the equivalent single phase with two “hots” 180 degrees out of phase will supply 220, 230, 240 volts respectively the small difference(less than 10%) in voltage will not present a problem.an equally sized AC today will draw less current than those of just a couple years ago.

If the plug fits, you’re fine. There is a big difference between 220V 1-phase and 230V 3-phase, but they have very different plugs. So if the plug fits, 220V or 230V is not important. Amps ARE important, however. If you new air conditioner draws a lot more current, make sure your circuit breaker and wiring can handle it. Chances are you will be OK.
