wat size air conditioner should i get, i have read that a general rule of 500 sq/per ton. i feel this is inaccuratee…as it says i need a 4.8 ton air conditioner i feel this to be inaaccuate as i read in other answers that a 1560 sq foot house is well cooled by a 1.5 ton air conditioner…i must mention that my house is brand brand new..not even a year old..so all the furncae is all new…and everything i think is properly insulated..i live in toronto, it usually reaches temperatures of 28 34 with humidity, also because of my hosue i get alot of sunlight….i do not wanna oversize my airconditioner..i heard there is sumthing called the Manual J is there anyway i can use that soo i can have the knowledge of wat size i need without the contractors tellin me wat size i need?
My window unit air conditioner is making a loud whiney noise. It only makes the noise when the compressor engages. It just started doing this, so I immediately shut it off. Anyone with AC knowledge, please let me know if this is some sort of thing that i can get fixed at a shop. Can this be fixed, or is it something major. Thanks for your help in advance.

I think my air conditioner has a short in it, everytime I turn it on the breakers go off. Does anyone know how what this means and/or how to test and repair it myself. Example how it works and give step by step instructions, also this unit is for a mobile home and not a wall unit.

In my house I have central air but in the basement I dont. The windows in my basement are too small for a regular airconditioner so what should I do to keep it as cool as possible because it was recentley redone and I want to use it but its just too hot.
