I used to use a window type Aircon (O General) and it used to work very well. But it wasn’t very efficient. We switched to Split Aircons and found that it’s a lot better because of the following –
1. No need to break the wall in your house or redo your windows to fit a Window Type Aircon.
2. A split aircon has a lot more features and can be fitted in the most desirable place in your room, as the outside unit can be fixed elsewhere and the aircon anywhere.
3. Splits are quite cheap now and can be got for almost the same price as a window type.
4. Splits are more Power efficient and less noisy and the compressor, etc are outside your room.
5. The airflow from a split is a lot better than a window and tends to cool the room faster.
6. Most splits come with a remote that can be used to time the aircon and is useful if you want to turn off the aircon at a specific time to save more power.
7. Splits come with Air cleaning technologies now, and the air can be more pure and less dry.
I hope this helps in your decision.
I want to know what part of a refridgerator or air conditioner is making stuff cold, like if you take it out, it won’t make cold any more. Is it a compressor? If you take that part out and you put a magnetron in it, it must make warm. What is that part??? HELP, PLZ!!

My mom has heart problems and needs the AC to be around the mid-sixties. We recently moved into an older house, and the air conditioner is polar when it comes to doing what it is expected to. It randomly stops being cold, and sometimes freezes up. I think we are putting more pressure on it than any other owner previously. It is in the eighties now, and I would just like some tips to make it work a bit better and more efficiently without the high cost of bringing a technician in.
